INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT “BRUNO SERRI” FOR ACCORDION AND COMPOSITION FOR ACCORDION
1st Edition 2016 – 22/23/24 July 2016
The association “Salotto Culturale Aggazzotti aps” in collaboration with “SAI UNIVERSITARIA for Philosophy and Music Science” announces the 2016 International Competition of Accordion and Composition for accordion, to remember the great maestro Bruno Serri. The composition is open to accordionists and composers without any limitations of nationality, age or titles. Candidates can apply to any of the following categories.
1. COMPOSERS
Composers can apply with more than one compositions. Anonymity is not required. The composition’s length must be between 3 and 8 minutes. The composition must be submitted as a PDF, together with the proof of payment of the application fee and the audio file.
The composer, if selected, will be required to play his/her piece before the Jury, or make arrangements for it to be interpreted by another musician of his/her choice.
Compositions must be submitted by the 15th of June 2016 to the following email address: concorsobrunoserri@gmail.com
The application fee is €30,00 (thirty Euros) for the first score, and €20,00 (twenty Euros) for any additional score submitted by the same author. Payment must be made through a wire transfer to the following bank account:

The application will be completed only upon receipt of payment, to be documented through a separate email. The application fee is not refundable, unless the competition is canceled. The selection panel will meet in June to select the 30 finalists, who will be required to present their compositions in Serramazzoni (Modena) on the 22nd July 2016, where three winners will be selected.
The finalists’ concert will take place on July 23rd 2016 at 9 pm in Piazza Tasso in Serramazzoni (Modena), or inside the Sala Polivalente, Via Roma (Serramazzoni, Modena), in case of rain.
The gala concert for the winners of all 4 categories will take place on Sunday 24th July 2016 in Piazza Tasso in Serramazzoni (Modena), or inside the Sala Polivalente, Via Roma (Serramazzoni, Modena), in case of rain.
The selection panel might not assign all prizes, should they determine that the scores submitted do not reach the minimum acceptable requirements. The decisions of the selection panel cannot be contested.
All selections will be public. Selection time:
• Friday 22nd July 2016 from 9.30 am until 12.30 noon – from 2.30 pm until 7.30 pm
• Saturday 23rd July 9.30 am until 12.30 noon – from 2.30 pm until 7.30 pm

• 1st prize €700
• 2nd prize €450
• 3rd prize €300
The amounts are gross, and taxes will be deducted. In case of ex-aequo awards, the prize amount will have to be divided between the winners.
2. ACCORDIONISTS
Participants will have to apply through the Secretariat and appear before the selection panel at 9.30 am on July 22nd 2016 in Piazza Tasso in Serramazzoni (Modena), or inside the Sala Polivalente, Via Roma (Serramazzoni, Modena), in case of rain.

Categories:
A. FOLK/BALLO LISCIO: Tarantella, Quadrille, Polka, Mazurka, Waltz
Competitors must present a free program of the maximum duration of 20 minutes, including the song RADIO WALTZ B.SERRI

The following prizes will be awareded:
• 1st prize €500
• 2nd prize €300
• 3rd prize €150
The amounts are gross, and taxes will be deducted. In case of ex-aequo awards, the prize amount will have to be divided between the winners.
B. VARIETEE: Tango, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Valse Musette Competitors must present a free program of the maximum duration of 20 minutes, including a piece by LUCIANO FANCELLI o RICHARD GALLIANO
The following prizes will be awareded:
• 1st prize €650
• 2nd prize €400
• 3rd prize €250
The amounts are gross, and taxes will be deducted. In case of ex-aequo awards, the prize amount will have to be divided between the winners.
C. CLASSIC I Competitors must present a free program of the maximum duration of 20 minutes, including a piece by J.S.BACH
The following prizes will be awareded:
• 1st prize €700
• 2nd prize €450
• 3rd prize €300
The amounts are gross, and taxes will be deducted. In case of ex-aequo awards, the prize amount will have to be divided between the winners.
The selection panel might not assign all prizes, should they determine that the scores submitted do not reach the minimum acceptable requirements. The decisions of the selection panel cannot be contested.
