Work of Early Australian Women Composers

If you are interested in the work of early Australian women composers I have put together 3 concerts at the State Library showcasing their work in arrangements for soprano (Merlyn Quaife), harp (Jacinta Dennett) and  flute (Johanna Selleck). The concerts are part of a creative fellowship at the library.

The first concert last week was folk and popular music. The second concert this Thursday (1.00pm -1.30) is art song and the final concert on Sunday 21st August (also 1.00pm) is bush songs for children (with illustrations by Ida Rentoul).

The concerts are free. Composers include Bessie Delves, Florence Ewart, Henry Handel Richardson, Monda McBurney, Georgette Peterson, and even Nellie Melba!
