My name is Diogo Carvalho and I am the Director of the Composers Forum at the Vienna Summer Music Festival. I am writing to let you know that our application for the 2019 season is open. Composers can apply in the areas of instrumental composition, opera composition, or choral composition. Information regarding these programs can be found below and on our website.
• Instrumental composers will have their music performed with PHACE, one of Vienna’s finest new music ensembles that specialize in the performance practice of contemporary music.
• Visiting guest, Irvine Arditti will do masterclasses with our guest composers and will record works for solo violin.
• Opera composition composers will have their one act operas performed with and will be fully staged, costumed, and small set.
• Choral composers will have their works performed with choral members of the Vienna Symphoniker.
• Each student will receive private lessons, attend seminars, and participate in masterclasses with faculty from the local universities in Vienna.
• All accepted participants are eligible to receive scholarship funding.
