Dear music friends in Melbourne,

we would like to introduce our Carl Orff competition 2019/2020 and we are contacting you to reach even more international composers to participate this year.

It is a great possibility for unknown composers to share their work with the public and our vision is that with the compositions of this competition we can provide an insight and encourage a better understanding for other cultures.

Therefore, the theme of the composition should be a freely selectable folk song taken from the native language of the composer. Essentially, the works sung by the children should be able to be played along with a selection of Orff instruments.

We are changing the theme on an annual basis and invite composers from around the world to create their very own variations. The entries will be published online, on a specified date, and reviewed by the public. The Top-10 compositions will then be performed in concert where a jury selects 3 winners who are presented with cash prizes. Travel and accomodation will also be paid for.

The closing dare for entries is February 29, 2020, the premiere of the final work is planned for July 2020.
