A Call For Expressions of Interest: Project for four Australian women and four Filippino women choral composers

Dear MCL Members,

A Call For Expressions of Interest: Project for four Australian women and four Filippino women choral composers

We are applying for a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade ASEAN grant, which is due to be submitted before the end of March, 2020. The focus this year for DFAT ASEAN funding is on women in leadership. Our proposal is for a project in which four Australian women and four Filippino women choral composers would create short new works that would be workshopped by a choir in the other country, and recorded for YouTube and/or other platforms.

The Australian composer would travel to the Philippines for a week between October 2020 and March 2021 to participate in the workshopping of their piece, and would give a talk to a Filippino choir on creating their choral work in an Australian context. The composed score would be made available through the AMC. The selected composers would need to be willing to host a Filippino composer for a week.

We would like to invite women MCL composers to indicate their expression of interest by email by Friday, March 6th.

The application needs to include:

1. two choral scores and at least on accompanying recording.

2. A CV of no more than 300 words that particularly outlines the applicant’s choral composition history

3. A recommendation of a choir with which they have an association. The choir could be a school choir, a community choir, a church choir or other.

Please indicate if the choral director is a woman.
