Program Note

I’ve come to composition along a country dirt road. Growing up in rural Templestowe, singing around the piano, and in scout gang shows etc. In the final year of secondary school, 1970, musical contact exploded onto my screen, leading to an exhilarated enthusiasm for Free Jazz. I have been teaching piano and trumpet since 1990. In that time, my understanding of the blending between Jazz Harmony and Contemporary Classical intervallic techniques, has allowed me to put aside any divides.
