Dear MCL member,
The concert information that follows may of interest to some members.
ANTECHAMBER will take place at Conduit Arts this Thursday, before it closes its doors at the end of the month. Included in the program are a series of works that are hinged on a subtle dialogue between the acoustic space and the substance of composition.Â
program:
Weiss/Weisslich 3 by Peter Ablinger
(see http://ablinger.mur.at/rauschen.html  for more information about this work and other ‘noise’ pieces)
2010/1Â by Manfred Werder
(more information about his work here http://manfred-werder.blogspot.com.au/)
March 17, 2016 by Simon Charles
Premiere of a new work for harmonium, uilleann pipes, gongs and sinetones. www.sibercha.com
Having Never Written a Note For Percussion, by James Tenney.
A work from his collection of postal pieces:Â http://aum.dartmouth.edu/~larry/published_articles/tenney_monograph_soundings/10_Postal_Pieces.pdf
performers:
Matthias Schack-Arnott, Matthew Horsley, Andy Butler, Simon Charles, Sooji Kim, and Satya Prapanca (Indonesia)
Each of these works in contingent on a dialouge between acoustic space and the language through which these works are framed. This concept is explored in very explicit ways; from the transformation of acoustic resonance that occurs over many minutes of a single gong roll in Tenney’s Having Never Written a Note for Percussion, to the absence of explicit instruction in Werder’s 2010/1, which uses text as a means to condition consciousness for an engagement with acoustic environment.Â
